An Introduction
This site is dedicated to the fighting of ancient battles using veteran 25mm figures from the 1960s and 70s with a homegrown set of rules, Parum Pugna, which first appeared publicly - along with a Marathon scenario - in issue one of Battle Games. Since then many more tabletop encounters featuring Greeks, Persians, Macedonians, Celts and Carthaginians have been fought using the rules. It is my intention to post scenarios, battle accounts and photos of these games here.
The photo at the top of the page shows a refight of Gaugamela from December 2008 which featured sufficient Persian cavalry to stretch the complete length of a 13 foot table. They still lost. Stephen Caddy, Kevin White (pictured l to r) and Paul Jackson commanded the Macedonians. The role of the Great King and his nobles was taken by myself and Clive Norman, who also took the pictures.
