Robin Hood Prince of Thebes

Some more figures from the Minifigs JonBee range. Above is a Greek officer and below some rather nice one-piece cavalrymen.

I have to say that I am rather fond of the old OPC cavalry. That's probably because I've lost count the number of paint brushes I've ruined down the years by hurriedly setting about undercoating two-piece cavalrymen before the superglue has actually dried properly. "Sets in 30 seconds" my arse.

  1. That Robin Hood sure got around in the sixties - I remember sticking drawing pins into the Airfix ones as shields although I think it made them top heavy...

  2. Nice to know that I am not the only one to lose brushes that way. Grounds for a class action suit perhaps?

The horse is very familiar but the origins of the rider puzzle me, An infantryman originally perhaps, maybe Little John?

I have fond memories of bow and spear cavalry in cloaks from Hussars with paratrooper helmets.
