I guess the imb...Glad you enjoyed the posts, Steve. I guess the imbalance in the relative strengths of the two sides is sometimes a problem that comes with refighting historical battles. I'd rejected Issus for the same reason, but was lured into Gaugamela by the prospect of seeing all that cavalry. In the end the wargame kind of reminded me of my early years using Jacklex colonials to refight the Zulu War. Part of the reason for building up the two Successor armies is to refight some more balanced encounters. Finally figured out also that I can view the photos at full size by opening and re-sizing them in a new window (D'oh !).<br /><br />I'm convinced about your rules giving an accurate historical result. But sartorial splendor aside, it must suck some of the fun out of controlling the Persians if an accurate set-up also creates a predictable outcome.
